Hasleby
What with all the trade talk lately and who's still on our list, the name Hasleby came to mind. Anyone heard of how he's going with recovery and if he'll be able to get a full preseason in?

The great shock of 2008 for mine, with the champ shut down on the eve of what could have been his best year. Look forward to his return...

Re:Hasleby
This guy is the key to our midfield, and our 2009. We were lucky enough to have the likes of Palmer and Ibbotson stand up this year, and they will need Haze to be at peak form for some support in '09. Especially with the loss of Bell, the Carrs, Black, and Farmer (who, contrary to popular belief, put in a valiant effort when thrown into our midfield this year).

Palmer, Crowley, Ibbotson and Schammer is an ok midfield, but when you throw in a peak (not a mis-spelling, there is definitely no 'e' there) form Headland and Hasleby it is starting to look quite good.

Re:Hasleby
And we can add to the midfield with intelligent drafting - Hartlett or Rich come to mind. Both these guys will be ready made AFL players of the ilk of Gibbs and Murphy at Carlton. Clancee Pearce is another.

Re:Hasleby
I'm expecting Andrew Foster to play a role as well.

Re:Hasleby
Yeah Hase looked like he was ready to fire in the pre season games. Guess the season was over before it started for Freo. Think he will be primed as he took his "annual leave" trip to Beijing for the games so he could get back and start pre season early

Re:Hasleby
I am a big fan of hase. I think if he can get back to full fitness he will have a lot to offer. And his given his heart soul to freo he deserves a bit of good fortune. Common Hase!!!

Re:Hasleby
I watch a lot of old games (don't have a life out of footy) and love watching Hase. He knows how to get his hands on the ball and when he gets it knows whether to hold, handball, or kick into space. Can't wait to have him back next year.

Re:Hasleby
Seeing as Haselby took on a part time coaching role in the box every game is only going to be a plus! He should have a better insight on opposition weaknesses that he can transfer into the midfield. Those team huddles could be worth while if Haselby can coach the team from there ( new vice captain ? ).

Re:Hasleby
Get real people. You know he will come back the size of a small whale and struggle for a game for at least the first half of the season. East Freo can run him into form.

Re:Hasleby
I'm with Harve. Hase will be fantastic with another full pre-season, just like has was in his very short outing this year. Dropkick, you're a .... well, dropkick.

Re:Hasleby
Hasleby has definitely been a smart player. Good in close, great overhead mark for his size, excellent kick, etc etc.
Whether he can come back like Shauny Mac had to 3 times ....well that is another thing altogether I reckon.
If he has one third of Shauny Mac's heart and commitment then you'd say he probably can be a good player again. If he has any more a third, then that will be a bonus for the team and supporters.

Re:Hasleby
No doubt he is a smart footballer - no age/speed limit on brains - it will be great to have him back.

Foster is another one that has a sound logical sense of getting the ball into the best position - if Hase can rub some endeavor off on him, and Palmie dispense a bit of whoo-ha onto Hase, then the midfield will be looking good (and much more effective) next year.
