For the doubting Thomas
Is your teams performance filling you with doubt? Have you put a question mark against some of it's off field leaders? Do you have any concerns about their judgement, character, integrity or conduct? I don't, but if you do read this, it might cheer you up a little and make you even a little thankful.

In other news, Fremantle would like their twenty bucks back from Damien Drum.

Re:For the doubting Thomas
Well it's an outrage obviously.

I mean, clearly, somethig should have been done. Who are these people, anyway. Who holds them to account?

That's what I want to know, who's going to pay for this debacle?

Now... stick on a false little beard, adopt a priestly pose with your hands clasped lightly in your lap, assume a gracious, yet righteous, demeanour... and repeat those words in your best Robert Walls voice.

Why? Why not?

Re:For the doubting Thomas
I tried it Mr Smiley and while it made me feel sanctimonious and highly superior it failed to give me any insight whatsoever into what St Kilda stand for (other than corporate ambush that is).

Re:For the doubting Thomas
Did anyone else like Grant Thomas? I would never want him as Freo coach but he did bring some humour to the AFL. Bit like a drunk uncle at a family gathering. As long as you didn't have to see him too often he was just fine.

Re:For the doubting Thomas
I'm with you big bear. As long as he stayed a few thousand k's a way from here, he was good value. Dealt with the sirengate thing reasonably well in my opinion.

Re:For the doubting Thomas
I liked the guy - would constantly point out the AwFL's hypocrisy and the players seemed to be behind him all the way. I especially liked the way he shot off his mouth in the media and then took his punishment with humor. In my view the Saints are a bunch of boneheads - on the field and in front office especially - it was stupid to sack him. Yet Grant wielded the sword to get the position, and eventually was slain by the same method.

Tough luck big fella - there are lots of us who end up working for similar organisations all across this country - we just have to live with that unfortunate fact. After Sirengate the guy could never get a look in at Freo - it would be like Hillary being accepted in Detroit (just won't happen)

I believe the Saints have already spent his holiday money on Gatorade for the year - surely he can get an old pair of socks (or jocks) from the G-Train (or someone) and flog the things on eBay instead of going to court.

Re:For the doubting Thomas
In that video they are jumping on Thomas cause he has made a serious and derogatory remark about a player in what they see as capricious manner and yet Wallsy gets to do it every Monday night. Reputation is everything in this game.

Re:For the doubting Thomas
Just a quote from the Thomas trial:-

Fraser said he had asked Gieschen to rate St Kilda's relationship with umpires on a scale of one to six.

"Gieschen said 'you are off the scale'. It was the worst in the AFL," Fraser told Judge Katherine Bourke.

So much for impartiality. I wonder what our rating is about now??

Re:For the doubting Thomas
There is no doubting that Thomas was a tool with some of his comments, but if you've been through similar circumstances where a fallout with board members has resulted in an acrimonious termination of employment and a right royal screwing in relation to entitlements you can't help feeling sympathy for the guy.

Re:For the doubting Thomas
When you weasel your way into the job, avoiding processes like managers and contracts, this is what happens.

It exposes St Kilda as being run by cowboys during that period. Something that seems to plague a lot of the middle of the road Victorian clubs. I imagine a club like the Wester Bulldogs would have gone under long ago if it was run by the people in charge of some of the more popular clubs.

For those who question the importance of the off field side of game, I ask whether Geelong would have won a premiership with Rod Butterrs instead of Brian Cook in charge of them.
