I guess if anyone would know a dud, it should be Drum. He's the biggest one Freo ever had.

Gotta give him credit... Drummy stuck to his guns and recruited for the future. He oversaw us getting Pav, Hasleby and Leigh Brown. As the song says, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
Freo's critics, as we know, love to harp on about recruitment. Drummy, I reckon, would relish a chance to claim a bit of credit as the bloke who didn't.

ahh, yes. as we know there's many champion clubs out there who thought "let's keep this guy who's in absolutely poor form on for another season, and play him every week on the chance he'll do well" why didn't we take more of drummy's tactics on board? well, besides the fact all it got us was the wooden spoon....

Next thing you know, people will be asking Tony Shaw for his opinion.

Every Fremantle coach has left the club in a better position than when they took over...except one.
If I were a historian brought in to look at the biggest mistake Fremantle have made that has resulted in their current standing in the world. I'd blame the person who hired Drum.

Look, I'm feeling pretty warmly disposed towards the world at the moment because my kid kicked a goal in the u/10s this morning. Marked it, played on, sold the dummy and snapped truly on his right from 25m out on the run ... but I digress.
Normally when I hear the name 'Damian Drum' I reach for the remote control ... or another beer. (Truth is, normally when I hear the name 'Damian Drum' I reach for something off the top shelf and a very, very large glass to pour it into.) But tonight when I hear his name all I can think of is, 'coach of our first Derby win'. That makes him part of Freo folklore and always will.
Maybe it's the only trivia question you could ask about Drummy that would make him look good. But at least he's got that going for him. He coached us (well, maybe he didn't exactly 'coach' us) to our first and in a way never to be equalled victory over the evil empire.
If some schmuck from a local rag called him for a couple of scandalous quotes in the past few days ... let's not blame Drummy for it. Tonight.
Let's not eat our own, like they do up the road.

This kid of yours sounds promising Wiz. If he slips through Gold Coast's net, do you think he's a chance to be rookie listed next season?

The point is Freo's ex coaches don't need to be coming out with this stuff now, he says he supports the club and has a soft spot for them, then shut up Drummy.
It was the quip tying the present to 2001 that grates most. You wish Drummy, you were the architect of all that and thus far there is no comparison to you.

So, Tony Shaw, what do you think about Damian Drum's comments about Robert Walls' interview with James Clement, where he talked about the article he'd read by Steve Butler, referred to in a media release by Paul Medhurst, that mentioned the trade of Graham Polak in an article that he'd seen on the Tigers website may have suggested that Peter Sumich is the man to coach Freo?
Tony? Hello, Tony?
Can someone call an ambulance please?

What a surprise, players play better in their 4th and 5th seasons than they did in their first couple. (McPhee, Brown, Holland etc) The only one who we traded after 5 years was Clement... and who exactly did that? Did Simmond not play better for Freo than for Melbourne? Was Matt Carr an underrated champ at St Kilda? It's been our problem... trading out players at the 2-4 year mark, bring in players at the 5-7 year mark. So generally the ones leaving are yet to reach their peak... the ones coming in have set the high standards and don't maintain it.
And an on-line sub editor must be taking the **** including Toby Stribling in the list of overrated stars we "snared". I note that name didn't make the paper version (which I read whilst passing a coffee shop which had 6PR on too).

Theres only two times Drummie pops up......just before we are playing a prelim talking up some of the youngsters he brought to the club, or when it is rock bottom. He had little to do with the prelim and he knows stuff all about lifting a poor performing club, so I think he should look after his constituents and leave footy to someone else.
