I'm sure he wanted to retire with as little fanfare and as little controversy as possible but I watched a a few versions of the news last night and something concerns me.
You can sort of make it out in the video at the end of this
http://www.dockerland.com/latest/peter-bell-has-retired.htmlWhen Peter Bell pulled on his jumper in 1995, he had quite an unusual amount of hair around his belly button. Skip forward a few years and, for some reason, he's running laps with no shirt and the hair is conspicuous by it's absence.
Now, I'm not a doctor so maybe he had some sort of injury that required it to be shaved but I think, and I'm sure Mark Duffield and his drinking mates will agree, an investigation needs to be held into this to find out if the bloke started waxing.
I've always felt that, with salary cap cheating, drug taking, concessions, father son rorts and mergers, North Melbourne won the last untainted premiership. Now I'm not so sure. Who knows where he picked up the habit or just how many other players are caught up in this.
For the good of the game and to clear Peter Bell's name that I've just besmirched, the AFL can no longer sit idly by and sweep these things away like barber shop hair. It's time for action.
