Armstrong
http://www.watoday.c...-horror-west-coast-season-20080904-49pf.html

Is he worth looking at? He's only 24 and he could fill a position we now have vacant. To be quite honest i haven't seen that much of him but he was pretty good for the toast in 2006

Re:Armstrong
They were all pretty good for the toast in 2006. Unfortunately for them, it's now 2008 and 2006 is just a distant memory. If you're not good enough for the 15th team, you're not good enough for Freo.

Re:Armstrong
Always in front of the play and not making it, reads it quite well but doesn't get his own pill. OK as a crumbing forward but very inconsistent. Delisted when he had an OK season suggests something else is missing in his game. Suprised about Chad Jones though.

Re:Armstrong
There are many more better players than Armstrong out there for us.

He played well in the 2006 GF and deserved his medal. He does not deserve a place on our list for 2009.

Re:Armstrong
No one deserved a 2006 GF medal, Merc. Not a single one of them.

Re:Armstrong
If he is avialable with a very low pick it would be worth considering.

Re:Armstrong
We have already slapped Jeff Farmer enough, this would just be spitting at him.

Re:Armstrong
I'd rather give a kid a chance.
If Armstrong has now been delisted from 2 clubs, why would we bother?

Re:Armstrong
Give him a go. He could be the next Brendan Fewster.

To be serious, it may be interesting what he can do under a good coach.

Re:Armstrong
give him a go i reckon. he'll be 25 next year, have a premiership and 70 odd games under his belt. at this stage we're gonig to have to draft about 10 kids which is a fair whack of inexperienced youth to have on a list, and it's fair to say we wouldnt find 10 kids to turn out like palmer, mayne and ibbo. Army would demand the very base wage and we could take him with our last pick in the draft

i cant see us losing if we drafted him, would be somewhat like drafting kepler and johnno last year. even if he doesnt get a game he'd be handy depth on the list. On a personnal note i know he's a good bloke, a good trainer and would probably benefit the young kids around him.

and as far as slapping whiz in the face - Army has and never will be a forward pocket. the slime and melbourne both stuffed him around by trying to make him one. ballantyne can be our new pocket! Army would be a handy depth midfielder for any injuries. he certainly knows how to find the pill.

Couldn't hurt to pick him up with a very late pick, could it?

Re:Armstrong
Armstrong is too slow and not enough skills. Thats why Melbourne and now the Eagles have dumped him.

We would be better off using the draft pick for a young, quick and skilled midfielder or samll forward. This year is a good draft and its now up to Freo's recruiting team to make those picks count, rather than taking a easy way out and pick up an ex eagle hack.

To be a successful club we cannot take these rejects anymore. Pickup the kids and teach them the way. No bad habits and with a young group growing and learning together it builds stronger team spirit and resolve.
