Another by under 10pts!
Thank God there's only one more week - I can't stand these near misses anymore!

Re:Another by under 10pts!
I don't know why they bother for three quarters and then give it away in the last - the lack of effort and poor decision-making is hard to fathom. And cancelling the last two minutes of a quarter to play kick to kick when they have momentum is just poor coaching. Yes, thank God there's only one more week.

As my brother says, Freo managed to yet again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Damn!

Re:Another by under 10pts!
I didn't think it was possible for anyone to be more hysterical than Steve Quartermain. Well done.

It wasn't a brain snap, he was niggling a bloke. That's his thing and I quite enjoy it, even if the coach probably doesn't. Anyone else and the umpire would have been concentrating on doing his job and umpiring the game instead of playing school mistress.

Like a most of the team, what he needs to work on is getting more kicks after half time.

Onwano I'd say we are getting more cromulent but they is behav'in like crack-hogs late in the quarters.

Re:Another by under 10pts!
yeah niggling is niggling, crowley does it well so does josh but a deliberate knee in the head is going too far. nothing wrong with niggling but i wish that was all he did.

Knee in the head? He stood up. It was a deliberate nudge.

Re:Another by under 10pts!
He was niggling a bloke 5 feet in front of an umpire and the ball was 20 metres in front of their goal. It was incredibly selfish and stupid.

But that doesn't mean every time he makes an error on the football field his career should end Quarters, you knob!

Anyway what number is Natanui going to wear?

Re:Another by under 10pts!
Sorry Shane, but it wasn't niggling, it was a knee to the head, with Farmer evidently hoping the umpire and the TV camera wouldn't notice. They used to get away with it, they don't now, and it's too late for Farmer to learn the difference. And he has not had a good season anyway, so I'm not sure why he should stay.

Re:Another by under 10pts!
The only reason anyone would say Jeff hasn't had a good season is because, compared to his days as a forward pocket, he hasn't kicked a lot of goals. But he hasn't done too bad for a midfielder, either.

Name a midfielder we've got — actually name a player we've got — with better skills than Farmer.

And, please, every time a player gets a free paid against him, let's no go the Robert Walls and call him 'selfish'.

Re:Another by under 10pts!
Ok, I accept that Jeff is now a quality midfielder. Hopefully next season we can find a good crumbing forward from our draft picks.

Re:Another by under 10pts!
A direct quotation from my eldest sister,"the dockers is like your under achieving child, you love them dearly but very frustrating."

btw in early 2006 when the dockers did not play well in the first half of the season, my 2nd older sister predicted that the dockers would win their first premiership in 2009. May be we should book early our airline tickets for Sept09.

Re:Another by under 10pts!
The game was lost when a half dozen critical turnovers occurred in the back half. Unfortunately including Jeff's indiscretion.

I suppose the question for the coaching team is

How do you improve by 3 goals for next game and next season?

1. Find another player option for the goals (forward or midfielder)
2. Tighten the backline and reduce the number of turnovers (reduce the number of possessions in the back half)
3. Improve the system and increase the number of midfield clearances (utilise Sandys reach to better effect)

Personally I believe number 2. Most would say all of the above. But let’s face it these days a lot of offensive play is carried out from the half back line to defensive wing areas.

Any thoughts?
