What caught my eye was the second last paragraph which reads:

If the AFL forges ahead with its (second) imperial adventure as planned, the Western Sydney team will consume untold millions and drain the coffers to the point that the code could be weakened elsewhere — textbook overstretch. My guess is it would be much cheaper to prop up a team in Tasmania, or even Canberra. In terms of financial viability, the best market for another team actually would be Perth.

3 teams in Perth? How would that work? Could it work?
Is it not a matter of if but when?

yeah, they should move the Kangaroos to Joondalup, based at Arena, sometime around 2020 (or roughly when the new Perth stadium will be finished). They can be the North(of)Perth Kangaroos and pilfer all northern suburbs folk that have jumped off the Eagles after finishing outside the top 8 for 12 years straight.

Id assume then we would see Freo play another two games a year in Perth. Could be interesting. Had some friends move to Western Sydney last month for work. They reckon nobody is interested in a team there...

elevate Easts. Re-name the Dockers the South freo dockers. Eagles, South freo, and east freo.
It's about time the australian game had an elite level team named "the sharks".

What about the Mandurah Sharks? As much as we like footy in WA I bet there would be enough support for a 3rd team. Western Australia needs to give the Victoria a run for their money.
