Unless the Saints make a late charge, I think we're okay.

With shane on this. A Derby final, for some obscure reason, leaves me feeling a tad uneasy.
Win the next two so I don’t have to overcome my fears.
I rock myself to bed at night thinking 3-14, 3-14 (or whatever the record is).

Can you even comprehend how cathartic flogging the Weavils in a home final would be? I would finally be healed of that night game where Serial Reject Cummings booted eleventy-million against us. It would wipe the slate clean. We would win the only one that mattered.
I would die of gloat.

Now I'm confused.
Under carneagles scenario, do we get screwed over by the MCG rule or not? It seems to change every week depending who you hear.

I keep saying, we've already won so sit back and celebrate. Even my idiot Budgie loving brother-in-law agrees it's either next week or next year but we're already better than them.
Don't worry about ElTweedo and me, Lemon. We've had a beautiful reunion and thanks to Dockerlands we didn't have to use a pay site.

I'm not so much worried about the result it just seems an anticlimax playing a second Derby the week after for our first ever final. It's like an American traveling to Rome and walking into the nearest McDonalds for lunch.

Carny, it didn't take you long to get excited,
Under your scenario, all you need is the following 1 all wins/losses as projected 2 to quote verbatim.."I want to see if Gardiner and Embley actually get onto the park. I'm also interested to see if the Tackling Eagles and the Awake In The First Quarter Eagles show up on Sunday, rather than the other kind we've seen over the last few weeks'...
I reckon point 2 is really important in finals. try it again and have the pies win rd21, lose rd22, comes up interesting
Blockerhall, the 6th V 7th may be at the G, it all depends on Demetriou the teams, where their from and the amount of money the AFL will make, very confusing and guaranteed to change

The Saints' late charge would have to be pretty special to lift their percentage sufficiently and the Weavils will limp in with 11 wins, 2 draws.
Pretty pathetic really.
My tips have us finishing third after Poort and Sinny and, as we all know, I am a genius.

i reckon a derby final in week one would be a nightmare from a freo point of view ... the perfect way to spoil a great season. i'd much rather see us play against anyone else, without the added pressure of local rivalry. hopefully the first derby finals match will be in a few years time, when we are a much more experienced finals team, and when there is no doubt that we would absolutely thump the egirls.
i just don't want an amazing season to be spoiled by a first round exit the wet toasters and a summer full of listening to their crap! sure, i think we would have a decent chance of beating them in a final, but just the thought of the possibility of our season being ended by them makes me wanna vomit

Be fearless. Imagine your fear is part of the psychic weight that has tethered our club. Now, let it go.
After this, class, we are going to be getting into some self-actualisation and I will require from you some self-realising cheques made out to:

Ok I'll openly admit to being partial to a bit of S&M (as any good Dockers supporter should be), but wouldn't an ideal finals campaign begin at AAMI v. the Power? Sure finishing fourth is by no means stitched up, but consider the benefits of this challenge. No pressure and no expectations on the Dockers. Port would be, and rightly so, expected to win. I can only envisage positives out of this kind of test (barring injuries). The trials of the second half of the season would culminate well in this true test of Freo mettle. This kind of finals experience is invaluable, especially for our younger players.

i believe the ideal finals campaign would begin in sydney, with the dockers facing the second placed swans. that's what came up on the ladder predictor after i put in all the results i expect to happen (including two more freo victories). this would be perfect because we have proved twice this year that we can match it with them. if we were to win it would mean a preliminary final berth, and even if we didn't it would mean a semi final at home against a lower-ranked team.

I'm with skribbler, at Amy v port in the first qualifying final. Even if we lost, the next final (first semi) would be at home, win that and the next game (first prelim) would be against the winner of the second qualifying final (week one). That could be adelaide, pies or syd where we have some chance as opposed to port where i'm afraid we have none..

ive just had a gander at allthestats and the docker graph looks good. Follow the coach, we are looking a spot in the 4 and he is spot on. Carneagles there is an old song that goes along the lines of waving good bye as you pass.
I just cant wait for the last round derby and the real football will start.
caarrrnnn the finals

SAAB, Ports final record is not the best though, they choke even at home so if its at AMMI against port we stand a chance. (although our record isnt to hot against port)

Anybody who is not thinking top 4 finish at this stage has probably been a member since 1995 and understandably carrying deep scars. My dreams of a fist final always involved the MCG, but it looks like its Adelaide. Anything free of the taint of the eagulls will do me.

Blockerhall, I think they have decided that all the home finals will go to the correct recipent, even if that means no MCG final (they were saying it was unlikely such a scenario could arise, but there are a number of ways it could happen).
Personally I'd love to see a derby final first up, but only if it was a Freo home game as I am missing out on the round 22 derby. You're right Dropkick about those deep scars, I guess I am too young to have been wounded overly (22), but surely you can see that it could all be erased, forever over the course of two weekends, back to back derbies, back to back victories? The Weevils are in poor form, and even if Gardiner provides a magic fix, it's too late for them this year.
Win today and top four is very much on the agenda. Of course the ideal situation would be to play Sydney, as they are something of a pretender and now lack Ball and I think Saddington, and we almost got over them a few weeks back. Port in Port would be okay for a qualifying final. I don't hold to this finals chokers mentality; they won't screw up like that again. Remember round 11 this year, we lost by 40 and I thought 'it could have been much, much worse'. Really if we get into the four then you are expected to make the prelim. That would be tremendous for the young Dockers, and there'd be no doubt we'd have overachieved for this year. Think of it, 3 finals, including one victory. Exit prelim day in Melbourne. The win being a home final we'd all get to see. I'd buy that for a dollar.
