Another classic from Hagdorn...EAGLES MIDFIELD HOLDS OFF ROUT.
Where does he get these gems from?

I'm not a fan of the 'Hack' but I know someone from the Worst Australian and according to them it's the editor who comes up with the headlines not to writer. Sadly can't blame this gem on him

Agreed, it's the editor's pleasure... but this caught my eye...

could be an honest mistake but, with a typo like that in the name...
Kim, is that you?

No, not Kim what an insult, wow you know who to hurt a person!
Been lurking for months but joined this morning, sadly hungover and a stupid typo. Will go back to lurking now

No.... don't do that, sorry for the windup.
Just pick another username. Easy mistake to make.

The headline didn't really reflect his article. He was much more glowing about the Eagles than just 'hold off'. I had to double check the scores.

It was a stunning turnaround after losing by 259 points last week the brave eagles fought out a characteristic loss to go down by a close 83 points. Though the oposition was reduced to 16 fit men by the start of the second quarter it was the bounce off the interchange bench that realy heartened the eagles faithful. Coach whatshisnamed pointed out the near misses on goal in the second and the complete absence of handball after the long break as areas of the game his young charges must develop. Coach whatshisname said the era of 100 point drubbings looks like a thing of the past and that they were looking to kick goals in future in the first quarter.

Steady there Larkin!
Writing like that puts you miles above hackdorn and duffus. You could put both of them out of work in a weekend.

Wow, how does he do it? How does he keep raising the bar for anyone who dares to make a play for the Hackdorn?
This is some of his finest (no actually this is his finest), I especially love the way he signs off Kim Hagdorn at the GABBA. Could he possibly have been there and written that report? If you look toward the end of the article there is a series of 7 paragraphs in which he starts with the name of an Eagles player in 5 (McNamara, Staker, Wirrpanda, Cox and McNamara again) of them. I had to check that Big Papi hadn't secetly left his pope party in Sydney briefly to head to the Gabba because he all but canonises each of them especially Cox. Is he getting a commission for every e-girls player he mentions?
And dare I mention the fact the Bradd Dalziell actually had the best ever debut in history and all Hacko manages is "Dalziell was a prime mover......"
SO all-in-all 56 points is not a blowout and next time the Dockers get beaten by anyting like say 50-90 points we must be referred to as having prevented a blowout.

I think you have nailed him. But isn't taking a commission unlawful? Or was is just an advertorial?

I think it was a job interview for Garry Stocks job when he's had enough. Any more silver linings and we'd be in a silver boom, not just an oil/gas/nickel/gold boom.
Either that or he got tanked at the Brisbane Holiday Inn, passed out and Darren Glass filed the report on his behalf.
And these days, with online uploading and the like, the journo often does supply the headings and captions... so they can't always blame the subbie.
