Not sure, but as none of them are Chamberlain, R., I would think that's a bit of a plus for them.
Do we generally get better, more experienced umpires for the higher intensity games like derbies?

As long as these blokes have a sense of occasion, we should be fine.

The ump with a No 1 on his back, wasn`t up to under 16`s standard let alone A F L standard

Umpire No 1 was shocking. Two certain Docker goals prevented by his awful decisions. Goal one when Johnson took a low diving mark and was then ridden into the ground. It was either a mark or a kick for push in the back but Ump No 1 judged it play on. Goal Two when Pavlich was held in a vice like grip by the Eagles defender as he tried desperately to chase after a ball in the right pocket. Again Ump 1 saw nothing amiss. And those were just the two most costly of this umpires awful decisions. Who is he?

i like the boundary umpire on the Roberts Rd side of the ground in the 2nd Q: 1. An eagle took a mark inside the line then played on, running out of bounds for 3 - 4 metres. 2. The square came when he let Grover get away with taking the ball over the line. in his defence, it's pretty hard for the boundary umps to keep up with the play these days.

simply stunning effort at being completely and ridiculously useless. When will they have a match review panel for the umpires? Number 1 was making calls on play at least 50m away, with the sun in his eyes!! The wiggles have every reason to be dark at the umpires too. Maybe more so than us maybe??

Yes the umpires were carp today. But in defence of the boundary umpires (an unbelievably tough job) the egirls player who played on out of bounds was OK because there was no-one on his mark and he ran in a straight line and then brought the ball back into play. Fair call.
I do feel sorry for Craig Hendrie (#24) though. HE has had a tough year with injuries and today was only his 2nd game for the year. He made a few howlers. I suggest he will be dropped again. The blooper in penalising Pav for the throw when it was Glassjaw who threw it will cost him big points.
On Grover's decision, as a boundary ump, you have to get right out wide if you are caught behind play and from TV and even at the ground it is amazing how many times there is still some portion of the ball either on the line or in the field of play. I would back the boundary umps 95% of the time on those calls.
All in all I think we got the best of the decisions today and there were a lot of free kicks conceded today - poor tackling etc.

They were/are maggots - obviously decided that there was no such thing as hands in the back today. There also wasn't any 50m given despite all the hanging on and obstruction by the EGirls throughout the match.
Sack the lot of 'em, get some new young blood into the ranks that know the rules.

Free kicks were 22 each despite our obvious dominance, and I reckon the only thing between us and a 100 point thrashing of the screaming fowl were the green clowns.
The lack of consistency between decisions in our forward 50 and theirs was breathtaking.

While we certainly got a fair suck of the sav - particularly in the first qtr - the howlers were terrible.
Pavlich, McPharlin and Taz were clearly held from marking attempts a number of times, in full view of an ump. And many a plum tackle was completely ignored. Either they were useless, or just making sure the frees evened up at the end.

I'd like to make special mention of number 1, a cetain Mr Donlan.
Breathtakingly bad errors all day, in critical positions on the ground. Dodd held, no whistle - goal to the Slime. MacKinley for a mysterious "holding" free 80m off the ball- goal to the Slime. Mark Johnson decapitated in a marking contest 35m out directly in front, - no whistle, cleared by the Slime.
Karl Langdon christened him "Donkey Donlon" and alluded to his apparently similarly poor performance the week before at some length.
All we ask for is consistency. If you're gonna pay/not pay them, then pay/not pay them all day.

Dont forget our 2 goals for the price of 1, i dont think i have seen that paid all year in any match, Mundy had his jumper pulled, hardly a sling, but it is deemed without possession and rightfully deserved a second shot on goal.
Umpires best call all day!!!

It was hard to fathom what was going on. The crowd still cheering the previous goal when Mundy given the free shot on goal. I will take it! Dodd being held was a shocker. I realise all teams take good and bad...But is it time we have video umpires come on board?
