Has his good behaviour affected his wizardry?

the whole thing will come down to list management. With the retirement list likely to be at least 4: M Carr, Bell, Macca, Black and probably the likes of Ma Johnson, Campbell and Murphy to be under close scrutiny, i reckon Jeff will be safe for 2009. He still does the things that matter, just not as often as he has in the past.

Um...I know this is going to upset a lot of people, but the Wiz just has to go... At A club where the emphasis is on youth and rebuilding..( Or at least I hope it is).. I think Jeffrey needs to be moved on for 3 reasons... Firstly , the Wiz commands A fairly hefty price tag and Room in the salary cap is one place we can enhance our future prospects..I've heard that Mark Williams is unhappy at Hawthorn and Someone of his ilk would be a handy acquisition to the club at this juncture..... Secondly, the Wiz just isn't playing as well as he used to and sometimes players just reach a natural use-by date..His uncanny vision and evasive skills seem to have deserted him and all too often he appears to try to do something magical when simple percentage football is what's required. ..At the moment it just seems he's one more guy clogging up the forward space that Pav is trying to operate in. His stats for the season are not great and only once has he had a truly stand out performance..... But thirdly and the most compelling of reasons to discard Farmer is his continued lack of discipline.. Jeffrey, as A senior player, simply sets the wrong example. He has consistently let down the supporters, the coaching staff and his teammates with repeated displays of poor judgment both on and off the field. With A clutch of young players emerging this season and the prospect of numerous retirees and the new C.E.O.'s commitment to rebuild through the draft it is obvious the list will become significantly younger. A large influx of youth on the list will provide an ideal opportunity to instill A new culture around the club, and it must be made clear to this new era that behavior that is detrimental to the club is unacceptable.. With all this talk of re-signing him does no-one remember that Jeffrey missed 11 games last season, not through injury or poor form, but through circumstances completely within his control. A half a season of absence which in the wash-up may have cost us a finals berth. As A loyal supporter I don't like to "bag" players so I hope Jeff can finish his career with distinction and be remembered as A bloke who could really play the game..I just hope he finds something special in the next 6 weeks..

I'm in Pollyanna's corner and agree that Jeff should stay and I think he will - unless he does something stupid before the end of the season, but I really believe he has left that stuff behind him now - as evidenced this season.
Swifty - I don't think your points are very compelling. i) Being that his form is not what it used to be, he won't have as big a price tag - sure it will be more than a draftee, but an experienced player brings more than just X number of games experience. Jeff can share his football experience with in-coming players and they can learn from both his positive and negative experiences. ii) Jeff isn't in as good a form as he can be, but that is still better than a lot of other players. When choosing a player in the draft there are no garantees (as we all know), having a youth policy is good, but you have to choose the right ones. If there are not enough good options in the draft, why not stick with a player who you know can improve? And as other posts have mentioned, each club is limited in it's number of list changes. iii) Jeff's discipline has improved remarkably this season. Sure he missed 12 games at the start of last year, but he has paid his dues and has turned his behaviour around.
That said, I'm still hoping the Wiz can improve his on-field performance and have a bigger impact in our remaining games this season.

The Wiz was great on the weekend. Moved a step closer to a new contract in my eyes. Keep it consistant and we will see him next year.

One more year (at a time).
Still got a lot to offer. The vision is still there. The fierce attack is still there. His lack of selfishness could enable him to register as a charity. And by all accounts, and at least as importantly, his off field presence is good for team morale. It's not all about the Coleman ladder.
however, Wiz does seem to get befuddled by this year's trend for man-on-man action (not the Stephen Fry variety, you understand) and superquick tackling. Not able to evade or escape like he used to, and is sometimes a bit slow getting rid.
