good sportsmanship and values
I took a leap of trust this week.

I bought a pair of tickets to the game over the net and had to transfer cash electronically to ensure they were mine... working away from town leads to situations like this sometimes. I was desperate to go and was prepared to take a risk, basically.

The young bloke who sold me the tickets sounded ok on the phone, we had a good chat and laughed a bit about various things including footy. We organised things around my flight back into town last night and he agreed to leave the tickets out in the meter box as he was heading out. I landed, picked up the car and headed across town with the vague fear of being ripped off in the back of my mind... I left the door wide open for that to happen but sometimes, I figure, you need to give trust and honour a run to keep them in shape, give them a bit of match fitness.

Got to the address, opened the meter box and there's my two derby tickets in an envelope with my name on it.

Joel, you're a top bloke mate. It was a pleasure doing business with you and well done for doing the right thing. It's a shame, really, that the right thing needs a backslap for being chosen but there's too many dodgy buggers around who don't make that choice. Doing the right thing should be applauded. I hope you enjoy the day, mate, and I'm sure they'll get up and do the righty for us, as well.

As for the game. We've had a good larf this week (me included) about the chicken fanciers up the road and the usual congaline of suckholes that publish pre derby.

Win, lose or draw, I hope we have a good game with no spite, sensible umpiring and a lack of injuries. The same could be said for the crowd... with the addition of no clowns throwing pies or soft drink bottles around.

It's a game. It's sport. Let's remember that as we head out on Whackaneagle Day 2008.

Good luck to everybody. I'll be in blk 111. With the pies.

I am glad you got a good result, empathise with the cons of the mining lifestyle! But all these good news stories leading up to the game have me worried for some reason.

Guy's a South Fremantle supporter so I expect Joel to be on here eventually, complaining about the bloke who bought tickets off him and tried to rip him off by paying with New Zealand dollars (or whatever currency they use)

Don't worry hypen. I'm sure bad stuff is happening to a Freo supporter somewhere to balance things out.

Re:good sportsmanship and values
speaking of dirty rotten sowf supporters i went to the game last night and had the pleasure of sitting in front of one of the bigest imbeciles i have had the pleasure to listen to. he had red hair a bad earing and no taste in anything i could gather. he didn't like the dockers but they were his team. you know the type. people asked him to shut up and he didn't. he claimed to follow south (grass roots my ar$e) but from what i can gather that meant yelling come on bullies whenever he turned to watch the game. which was rare. he sat with two friends one of whom looked like the dad from american pie (brows). he was a king fool. a super goose. i want his name. someone must know him. he was sitting in the members area in front of the tab.
