Freo v7 compared to Freo v8
i) The first thing I noticed was our ferocity at the ball and if the ball was in the eGurls' hands, there was no change in our boys' demeanour. That has to be Mark Harvey's stamp on our team.

ii) Centre clearances still wasn't too good, but it wasn't bad either. As the year progresses, Sandi will get better. Happy's ruck-rover game continues to give us drive all around the ground.

iii) Who was that playing in Dessie Headland's jumper? A brilliant and courageous game.

iv) Loved Gerard Healy's comment on Rhys Palmer which referred to him wearing "the famous number ten". Palmer looks to be very useful.

Yup.

Lock him in. Freaking gun by all reports and by what we've seen.

Steal of the draft imo.

Re:Freo v7 compared to Freo v8
Here is my perception, for what it is worth:

Reece Palmer was very impressive.
Dessie & Jeffery were terrific (jeffery's arm raising in front of the slime supports was priceless)
Johno was good.
Pav looks BIGGER & better.
Carr bros, Solly, Mundy, Haze ( before injury), Drummy, Grover, Hayden & Kiwi all looked fit & ready for a good season.
Mark Johnson needs a few more games to get familiar with players.
Taz & Peaky a little quiet.
Shammer was good but at times tried to do too much.
Tackling was effective & hard.
Played the corridor with a little more determination.

We beat them on their home ground...Go Dockers

....is Lynch always an idiot ?

Re:Freo v7 compared to Freo v8
Lynch hasn't lost intelligence, he has always been that stupid.

It was one of the better preseason games over the weekend. Most of the games I turned off because of handling errors. I thought we had a few but our attack on the ball was addictive. Couldn't look away.

Johnston looked a bit lost and Taz was a bit off. But plenty to be excited about.

Re:Freo v7 compared to Freo v8
The Freo boys demolished a side that had no winners anywhere on the ground.

I think the intensity the boys played with was the difference the forced the toasters to cough up the ball over and over again.

The first qtr was the most ferocious and the opposition wilted from that moment on.

I think there was a lapse in concentration towards the end of the second qtr and again after Hase's injury. It allowed the toast to kick a few goals.

All in all it was a shellacking and had we found the big opening at the start of the second qtr it would have been of monumental proportions.

Re:Freo v7 compared to Freo v8
I quite enjoyed the performance tonight which saw Freo control the game from start to finish. Even when Arrest Coast managed a couple of goals, they did not look threatening and Freo easily put the clamps back on.

In my opinion, Freo were just stringing Wet toast along all night with out really spending an excessive amount of energy. They took things easy in preparation for the rest of the season instead of going all guns and thumping the weazles by 80+ pts.

Re:Freo v7 compared to Freo v8
Freo were good, mostly quality skills, excellent tackling. I liked Palmer (keeper), Dodd, Wiz, Headland, Mundy, Roger, Haze and The Fruit. Only Taz was quiet.

Less handballs (again) and more long kicking would be good.

The Eagles were a rabble.

Re:Freo v7 compared to Freo v8
We did ok and there were plenty of positives as mentioned, but...

this was a depleted opposition. We were sharp early, focussed and looking well drilled. Those things matter more to me than a scoreline.

Tequila's disposal looked good enough, that was something I had an eye out for.
Ibbotson has speed to burn and can get the ball but he needs to learn some composure when disposing of it.
Happy Gilmore just keeps on getting better.

Michael Johnson on a wing, through the centre, playing on the ball. There is a god.

Early days but an impressive first outing.Haselby loss would be a big blow.Still think schammer will never be an afl olayer till he learns to stay on his feet.He spends more time lying down than standing up.Liked the look of Palmer

Re:Freo v7 compared to Freo v8
Two gold stars to Palmer and Solomon. Detention for Taz and Schammer - Schammer looked out of his depth and wherever the ball was, Tarrant made sure he wasn't. One gold star for the rest.

I suddenly understand the phrase "numbers around the ball". They played like a team. Woo hoo.

Still not silky smooth and cooly composed, though. A few of the old familiar panic clangers. Grounds for confidence but no room for complacency. Geelong are going to be bloody awesome again.

Thought the Weags' youngsters did well to overcome the humiliation of wearing blue and yellow, and played with spirit for a bunch of also-rans.

Re:Freo v7 compared to Freo v8
Thought our forward pressure was first class. Solly, Johno and Farmer should make it very hard for teams to clear. I think M Johnson through the middle is a good experiment for preseason his class on the ball will be well received by Taz and Pav.

I prefer Schammer through the middle it takes pressure of his disposal and can kick goals. When he plays down back he collects plenty of the ball but like last night he can make some shocking mistakes.

Fingers crossed Hase is alright he looked fit and sharp.I am so glad we picked up Palmer he is going to be a longterm Star

Schammer's intensity was great (disposal a little shabby at times but ok). Des was fantastic.
For a first game Palmer was the business...he does look somewhat one sided though (May god strike me down).

I liked our backs and the defnsive pressure in the forward line.

Early days yet but I THINK THE KIDDIES LOOK GREAT and Ibbitson appears to be no slouch as well. The best thing I can see is that players with poor form wont be protected species. It was great to see tackles applied and a couple of times you could hear the opposition players bodies thumping into the turf. The tackle barometer is far in access of 2007 already.PS GOT CHEAP FLIGHTS ON TIGER FOR GRANE FINAL WEEK A COUPLE OF WEEKS OR SO AGO.

You gotta love the 'Angry Factor' though, there was one shot of Kiwi, Solo-man and Mk Johnson all on screen in the replay and I thought..this is a scary team..Seriously can't wait to see them all smashing opposition players this year.

Kiwi is an ANIMAL!! He just needs to focus that agression and he will be a force.

Good Direct footy....
Was also interesting listening to Harvs media converence saying the focus was on the team performance and not the individual.

Lots of 1 percenters out there last night and players putting their body on the line for each other.

Cant wait for the season proper
