Looks like the kid will get a call up next week. A trip home to mum and dad, not to mention the 5 goals 4 point hall this weekend.

One would imagine there will be a few changes for next week.

There will have to be changes, now that McPharlin is in doubt. I think you will see Webster back in, as he is showing good WAFL form and his body is AFL ready. I think Murphy is a possibility, but people shouldn't count out Michael Warren or Michael Johnson to replace McPharlin along the half-back line (either of those two would have been a better match-up on Rocca, btw - Thornton is a talented player, but he gave away too many kilos to Rocca).

If the objective is to build a team capable of challenging for the top 4 in 06/07 then maybe it is time for Murphy to get a run at FF. Snake to CHF, Polak back where he belongs and maybe JLo resting in a pocket. Apart from Modra we have never really had consistent FF who set up goals by getting out on a lead. Having a leading FF along with Snake at CHF, whose leads seem to be ignored quite often, may force the coaching group to come up with a more direct "game plan".

Isn't "Cadbury" Johnson predominantly a CHF? I reckon we'll see Polly settle into CHB for as long as McPharlap is out. I reckon we'll also see his confidence grow somewhat also.

I have watched Murphs play on many occasions this year and he is by far the best young gun we have recruited for some years. There is just something about the kid that sets him apart from the rest. He has a strong lead, takes a strong mark and has a beautiful kick. After watching a disfunctional forward line last night changes need to be made.

T-Lo 10 goals in 2 weeks, Clive 12 in 2 weeks, Murphs with his usual bag of 5 yesterday and even young Crowley seems to be getting better each week with 6 goals for Subi. Everyone keeps saying it is a bad thing to go back to the WAFL, well look what it did to J-Lo. The best place to find some form is the WAFL. Whilst on the subject hats off to J-LO another amazing game for 2004 getting better every week.

Haven't seen Spud play this year, so I'm not commenting on the original post directly, but I don't see why people insist on nominating a young untried WAFL player for selection, every time we have a loss.
For a start, I don't think the on field problems are with the KPP's, we need more grunt in the middle.
Secondly, a young player can't be expected to solve KPP problems if promoted unless he's an absolute gun. If we had such a player on the list, I reckon even the Worst would have found him and said something by now.
If there are significant changes this week, I'd like to see them made in the middle.
Some sharp handballing would be nice, too.

While I'm on a rant, why hasn't anyone had a go at Bell for a ridiculous cough-up that cost us one of the last goals?

Might have something to do with him being the one that seems to be keeping us in games and giving us a chance?

On the whole forwards subject, I was a little worried when I was watching the usual 6 forwards head into the kangaroos 50, compared to the 3 that headed into ours.

I don't believe anyone who wants Tater in, expects himto be the saviour of our forward line. It's just that the kid has done enough to be given a crack. He's gotta be given an opportunity some time. How do you think every other player in the game started ?

Andrew Browne had a couple of shocking experiences yesterday but he's young and makes mistakes sometimes but he's great, always gives his all. Murphy will eventually come into the team and he will probably play some shockers while he is young. However until you actually play him, he's not going to get any AFL experience and the way our forward line is going what have we got to loose. If CC isn't going to play experienced AFL players currently performing well in the WAFL then he needs to at least try the young ones. (Not the 80's TV model, I hope)
In fairness to the forward line its hard to get a kick with only three forwards including one tall player who is flanked by two Roos players. Where was our spare man?

Certainly not back helping Thornton....

I'm not knocking the idea of bring Tater in, it might be a good thing. Whether or not we're at the stage of blooding youngsters will show up next week. I don't know if replacing players in the forward line will sort the problem, anyway. Looks more like a structure problem to me.

If McPharlin can't play he should be replaced by another tall. All our back up KPP are inexperienced and Murphy should be the one who gets first shot on his wafl form.

The Wooly 'tater probably deserves a game or two and CC has said he would play him.

But Guy has a point. It doesn't seem to matter who is in the forward line. We've tried Polly, Pav, Croad, Snake, Medhurst, Hasleby, Elvis, Wiz, and they all cop stick.

What's stayed the same: the midfield. And its not just grunt. How many times must we watch Snake, Polly and Medhurst make a lead and the midfield wait for another option.

Or the kick falls a yard short, which happened many times to Snake last night.

There were many times in the first half those passes to Snake on the lead (a couple of metres in front of his opponent) fell several metres short. It was annoying to watch I can imagine what he thought.
I agree Murphy has to get his chance in the next two weeks. Adelaide in a night match may be difficult to debut in, but I think with McPharlin out, Polak must go back and this gives a player like Murphy
his chance. I cannot wait to see him play AFL, he may not excel straight away, but he will soon. These remaining games will be great preparation for next year for him and Freo.

Perhaps after watching Snake drop 4 sitters in a row our players decided he was a better chance of collecting a half volley so delivered it as such.

Right now the Dockers have nothing to lose to bring in some young players. I really think Murphy should be included this week, T-lo has a had a raw deal all year, everytime he has played and the Dockers have lost they drop him. I think replacing Farmer or Medders for T-lo would be a great thing. I think Webster might come in this week, if he does it could free up Pav at CHF and put Polly CHB.

I reckon it's time that Ryan Murphy makes his debut for us. It's South Freo's bye this weekend, so he'll be free, and now that Lukey Mac is out for a couple of weeks, Polak will be tied down to the role at CHB.

Either that or bring in TLo for a game to prove himself. I just think we need to do somethen with the forward line. Archer totally shut down Meddie, and Snake was also nowhere to be seen. We are becoming too predictable. The Wiz still has ambers, but doesn't have the support.

Lets hope Murph gets the birth
