I Hate The Eagles
Here it is Sunday and I still hate eagles and their supporters.
Did any one else find that their supporters were a little sedate the other night it is the first game I have ever been too where I was abused by weagle supporter before - during - and after the game.
What is it, are they scared of Freo doing better this year? You bet.

Although we lost the other night I felt very proud with the Dockers.

Freo4ever, I feel your pain. Two eagles supporters where sitting a few seats to the right, when they saw me in my Freo garb, they sneered "you Dockers suck!" These where young girls about 13 years, I turned around and uttered "shut up" to then proceed in a screaming contest which I was out numbered by a few more siiting near them. I won the battle but lost the game. I hate the Eagles more than this old friend who betrayed me 3 days after my birthday (long story). Alas I too was proud the Dockers didn't totally give up the game without dignity. The premiership season is so full of excitement and possibilties that the Dockers will be fulfilling. Next derby will be seeing Eagles supporters drive away in droves.

Bah - you bunch of whimps! Where I was sitting it was the purple taking the mighty out of the bird. Bird fluffs feathers, wharf man swings anchor. Rivalry on a off the field...that's what the competitive spirit is all about. I wouldn't take it personally!

I Hate The Eagles
Eagles supporters who are at the games dont bother me all that much because abusing/being abused(although i did cop alot of unwarrented sprays after the derbys in the first few years but it hasnt been to bad latly) while at the footy is all part of the game and unfourtinitly it only happens once or twice a year for us fans in the west.

Its the people i know who are so called eagles experts who have never been to a game, know stuff all about the game and only read the paper or see it on the news and then give me a 10 min lecture on why the eagles won and are so much better than freo when there lucky if they know the names of 10 players let alone if they can actuly play who irritate me.

I still think carlton have the worst supporters when they win.
As for hating the eagles as a club, nah, with mark williams as a coach port wins that hands down.

quote from an armchair-eagle i caught up with on saturday:

"It was a great win considering we had so many injuries, and you guys were close to full-strength."

Basil 1234 those two Wet Toast supporters who yelled 'Dockers suck' are the same people who yell 'Eagles suck' when their teams losing.

I Hate The Eagles
Hate the Eagles, hate their 'fans', trouble is, I can't decide who I hate most. At least I got some small pleasure out of laughing at the couple of Slimeys sitting next to my poor hubby - bless them, they had matching home knitted scarves.

Incidentally, the guy sitting next to me looked like a modern Dr Frankenstein's monster. This guy only made the occasional grunt, so I figured that he too must be following the Slime.

Wait till the points really matter, Freo will cream them.

two very obvious eagles' supporters' facets

1) love knitting OR

2) love those of whom knit

kinda goes hand in hand really.

Ah they start 'em young as Screaming Fowl. And they don't get any better as the get older. The "Dockers Suck" mantra. I mean who writes this stuff for them? Sumich?

All I know is my voice was gone five minutes into the First. Just had enough left at the end for a fair spray at Steggles leaving the ground after laying that disgraceful trip and nearly breaking his leg in the process. There is nothing to respect about his football. Nothing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, fantastic trading by us to get rid of him when we did. At any price.

So, after copping the normal abuse from an idiot eagle supporter I know (they only speak out when they beat us), I emailed him a copy of the "Jakovich takes the blame" article in the West Australian.

His reply: "Refer the point -> 'If the opposition captain requests a head count'. Where was Bell when the issue was realised? And as I always say - Winners are grinners and losers can please themselves"

My reply: "Where was Bell?! Playing the game and racking up possessions, I believe! While we are on the subject, where was Cousins? Why was Slapovich taken from the ground by Brett Heady
instead of Cousins noticing? Winners were cheaters and the losers were playing their hearts out!"

His reply: "Well well - we are a bit sensitive about this aren't we?"

My reply: "No, this is fun. Especially given that I argue on the side of right and you argue on the side of wrong."

His reply: "Wrong, eh? I support a side of winners! At least the Eagles haven't bought a side this year. We have developed our talent for the last two years and it is showing real results, ie Finals appearances!!! I am so looking forward to the first derby."

My reply: "Haven't bought a side? Chick was already an Eagle, was he? Who were the 22 players that we bought? Only Headland if my memory serves. You really need to think these things through before you launch into your next bout of stupidity!"

His reply: "Pavlich,Headland, Haselby, Longmuir - they all cost big money over the preseason. I know exactly what I am saying."

My reply: "Pavlich, Haselby and Longmuir were all 're-signings' - and they all stayed for less money than was being offered by other clubs. What was your point?"

His reply: "OK - I have had enough of this!"

And he calls Freo losers!

I Hate The Eagles
Apart from the plastic fans who watch the Eagles on TV but only when they are not doing anything else, don't ever part with the hard earned to watch a game live and only go when a colleague has a spare ticket in a box, sit in silence during the game but start to cheer when their team hits the front and couldn't name 10 players that didn't play in their last premiership side if they tried - a couple of true-blue supporters (if you could call them that) actually came up to me this morning and said to me - "You guys have really recruited well, you are going to do much better than us this year". Needless to say, I was speechless and took their compliments gracefully (Not - when they left my office I did a little victory dance).

In another laughable exchange I had on Saturday morning, an older lady I work with greeted me with "Did you go and watch the Eagles last night?". I came back with a surly - "No, I actually went and watched the Dockers last night, they played against some team in blue and gold but I'm not sure who they were" Needless to say she was taken aback.

My new method of dealing with the slime is treat them as if they were like any other team - they can't stand it.

I can't realy see that method holding up long term.I could never treat Old Easts the same as the rest no matter how hard I've tried ,so get used to it and when we get on top of the slime milk it as much as you can.

I Hate The Eagles
After listening to one particular Fowls supporter at work today crapping on about how great they were on Friday night I asked him if he went to the game.
His response?
"Don't need to. I've got a big screen TV"

I rest my case.

Freo4ever, Make sure you keep those vocal chords nicely tuned up so they reach their peak at round 5.

Freo4ever, I feel your pain. However it strikes me as absurd that the fowl supporters are so happy with the win? Is this not the mickey mouse competition to trial new rules and occasionally get match practice for those fit enough at the time?

If the fowls like to claim glory at the preseason comp, this only suggests that they have not got a lot of confidence come the real deal time.

4 points is the real measure of glory. BRING IT ON

I'll be honest here and say that I am happy that they boys don't have to fly to Darwin, put up with the heat humidity etc risk of injury, buildup of expectations etc (and prob cop a shelacking from Adelaide who were in sparkling form the other night against Port). Instead, we can concentrate on what the preseason is actually about - getting ready for the season proper.

ps I hate the fowl too.

The fowl, I like that.
I'm with you guys I too hate the Wet Toasters. When the Pies come to Perth their scum bag administrators stick the supporter group up in the rafters behind the goals at the city end , absolutely the worst seats in the place. Freo on the other hand give us Premium seats near the players race. Thankyou Freo.
Death to the Fowl.
