Confidence returning?
I know it was only the eagles, but a lot of our guys looked more confident this week.

Michael Johnson was looking his old self.

Roger Hayden wasn't getting caught (and the other players were shepherding, which may have been a factor).

Robbie Warnock looks like a footballer (no criticism of Sandi intended).

Gilmore seemed to appreciate not having to go in as a part time ruckman.

Even Matthew Carr started racking up possessions when needed in the last quarter.

Duffield seemed at home (although the eagles lack of pace may have reminded him of the WAFL)

Heath Black showed why we missed him, and Peter Bell just keeps on giving.

But Brett Peake still seems at sea - his disposals were pretty bad, and he got caught once just standing still.

I know its only one win, and against mediocre opposition, but things may just be looking up.....

Re:Confidence returning?
Too true.

I thought our center clearances were much improved today also.

Playing both Sandi and Knockers is the future.

Tequila went alright too. I think he's set himself some a few goals and is setting about realizing them.

Re:Confidence returning?
The barometer for the team's confidence is the captain. When he's up, we fly and vice versa.
I would drop 3 players after today.

Peake.
Schammer.
Matty Carr.

Peake does seem out of sorts. He doesn't know what to do. Neither does Matty Carr... he gets lost.

Schammer's turnovers cost us at least 2 goals early. He did some good things at times but ultimately, to me, appears a liability.

We get Solly back next week.

I don't know anything about Elvis not playing but clearly, you are showing the opposition no respect when you drop your second best, or best on form, player.

The other player to come into the mix is two players, Bombre Johnson or Soreknee. I'd go with Mark Johnson.

Presuming fitness, that's my call for next week. I did drink today.

I was cocky at the game, too. Apologies for I was not humble.

Re:Confidence returning?
Gee Guy, sober up and watch the replay. Schammer was in and under everything. A lot of one touch clearances in the centre. Very very good inside the packs today.

Re:Confidence returning?
And why should you have been humble? I was at the at the Perth end behind the point post and I too was not in the slightest bit humble. Although, I was bouyed by the excellent cheering led by the man two rows in front of me. Well done sir whoever you were.

But, GS I don't agree with dropping Schammer. I thought he played with a lot of guts and determination and although he was responsible for some turnovers he was still good. I wish I could say the same for Gilmore.

Re:Confidence returning?
Mcpharlin has a calf injury,(I think) and I thought Schammer worked his guts out. Maybe a couple of errors but he tried and tried and that's what I like to see. Hayden was the ever reliable defender, and Peake tried to reach out of his peak at times but it just didn't quite happen.
I just loved the tap on and more tap on when we were under pressure. I just yelled "now yah know what you're doing"

Yesterday I sent in 'reasons to win'.
I forgot one other, and that was
I'd missed hearing
our Theme Song!

Finally, there just seemed to be something missing in the Weet Coast playing field (definately not who).
Are they riddled with injury? Even just slightly so.

I admitted to my long suffering mate that he seemed to be in my sights today. Might have had a bad sleep last night and woken grumpy.

I'm not claiming total authority. I can claim reasonable irresponsibility.

Re:Confidence returning?
Yep I thought Schammer played well today too. 12 kicks 10 handballs and a lot of them hard earned in and unders.

Re:Confidence returning?
Schammer was pretty good I thought. Good to see Peakey find some space on the wing today which was promising, though his disposal and awareness around him was poor. 211 drop mark in our forward fifty just before 1/4 time brought out some profanity from the lounge room as well as Blackies lack of respect for the rule book.

Pleasing thing for me was the amount of ball we won in the middle and the momentum boot forward rather than the hand pass sideways from the tap. Good day all round really. Bring on Monday morning.

Re:Confidence returning?
I though Schammer was great and for that matter, Matty Carr did some good things in the forward line, that is when it was our goals at the Perth end. Couldn't see a lot at the 3 tier stand end though. But I have to apologise too. I was bordering on ferel

Re:Confidence returning?
I thought Schammer is actually coming into a bit of form...

As for monsieurs smiley and less, I would love an 'around the ground' report... how many pies did you dodge, did you stand up and cheer every mark we took, did you force eye contact from those who couldn't bare to look at your purple pride, did you throw any witty comments at the rabble surrounding you, offer insightful football knowledge to the granny knitting next to you etc.

Re:Confidence returning?
I too thought Schammer went OK - I must have been making the popcorn when he turned the ball over. So good to be in a position where it's difficult to find places for good players. And I thought 211's ruckwork was much improved. I haven't see the stats yet, but he seemed to beat Cox convincingly. I think that's why we did better in the middle.

Re:Confidence returning?
Schammer was very good today. Got a lot of drive from all the boys in the centre, the match winning zone I thought. Just lovin Rhys Palmer. Forward line worked well too, thumbs up Chris Mayne and Murph, great support for Pav.

Loads of fun behind the city end goals, first away derby I've been to, excellent.

Re:Confidence returning?
Hopefully they've played us into a bit of form. I thought everyone looked much better this week. M Carr still seems to be the weakest link despite his improvement. Peake was better but also coughs it up too much. Other than the two youngsters who were brilliant, I thought duffield was a good inclusion and was hard at the contests. Schammer was good in and under but still needs to work on disposal.
Sandy please practice marking!!

Re:Confidence returning?
I think Schammer did a good job. I am so looking forward to next weekend. Does anyone know if Luke McPharlin will be back next weekend? Dean should be back as well. Damn, it feels good to be a PROUD Freo Docker supporter today. My in-laws were eating humble pie all the way home from Subiaco today. They could do the right thing and become a Freo supporter but... from what I have been told there is now a waiting list for Freo memberships.

I love going to the games even though we have lousy seats. Maybe next year we will be able to change.

Re:Confidence returning?
It was disappointing today Specs, no pies, wet knitting or spilt chardonnay but they realy do not like Jeff or Joshy and from some of their comments I'm not even sure if they like Lynch. Anyway I told them they were a bunch of cheats like the umpires which didn't get the reaction I was looking for. Asking them to stand up on the train so that the Docker supporters can sit down DID get a reaction though.

Re:Confidence returning?
I feel let down. It's like even they realise that their team has no hope, so they won't even rise to the bait. Told an egirls fan who had the audacity to wear a wc guernsey to our game last week they would get thumped. He pulled out the old silverware in the cabinet line. I pulled out the old tainted cup/drug cheat line. He said nothing... They're not fun like they used to be.
