Noticed Shippy on the TV news tonight with the Wet Toast outfit on. Although it will be a comedown for him coming from a club with a definite buzz about it for the future to the Eagles, I have no doubt they'll pick him up.
He is one bloke that I would be happy to see succeed in another club. He has ability, but is the victim of circumstances at Fremantle, with little opportunity last season, and, in reality, no real prospect of getting into the Dockers side next season. Give him a go and he'll go ok, and he would definitely be higher up in the pecking order at the slime than with us. The measuring stick is Embley, who got 18 games with them last season. Who would you rate higher, Embley or Shipp?

A Victorian who wants to stay in the West. Not many of 'em. Good luck to him. What was it that our match committee didn't like about him? Is it because he played for Perth? The Toasters should be worried. Trent Carroll? Greg Harding? Long term success? But then, who are we to speak? Buzz? Metro? ...

you can't have a crack at the kid. He has a partner and young child and their whole income would be derived from playing football.
So rather than uproot the family and move back to Victoria with no promises why not try and stay were you are happy.
He didn't walk out on Freo, Freo cut him loose remember.

I would like no bagging of Shipp now or in the future if he gets picked up. I like to see ex-dockers perform at new clubs no matter the circumstances they leave on (unless they are playing against freo of course). Anyway if that happens to be with West Coast so be it, the kid needs to take whatever opportunity comes his way.
Onya son, have a good crack at being a coaster.

Ahhhh the West Coast Seagulls
It is simple that our squad has a far greater depth, and they are flocking to Shippy faster than the preverbial Seagull on a chip out the front of a Sunday session at the OBH (pick the county influence).
It's a fact our fringe players would be in their best 25 or so - so we may see more of this happening. West Coast will continue to be reliant on a core group of players - with a very average supporting cast - West Coast have a weak list but its the Kerrs, Cousins, & Gardiner that get them through. Their list is in decline and I would expect they will start to fall to the bottom half of the ladder over the next 1 - 2 seasons. McIntosh is no longer a core player, Judd has the talent - needs to be consistent, Jakovich will start to slow. I cant see a lot of key players coming through. Anyway time will tell.
So dont get me wrong...I wish Sghippy well (now) but the minute he pulls on the blue & ochre against Freo - I will be into him and cheering both his defeats in 03.
Leigh Brown, all the very best mate - but the minute he does his tough boy act (actually it isn't an act, he's just plain nasty) against us, I'll be hoping Clive runs through him (note - Clive --> through him rather than one of our own players). Of course I will still cheer him on against all the other clubs.
So good luck Shippy but come the season start if you aint in purple - you are my enemy.

Judd's looking more consistent than Polak at the moment.

Of course the difference between Polak and Judd is that Polak will still be here in 2004.

Maybe. Shipp went from being the Next Big Thing to training with the Eagles in about that timeframe, didn't he?

I have never seeen or heard Shipp referred to at Freo as "the next big thing". As a matter of fact he has always been a fringe player with us. But the tag could well apply to him now because there's no doubt he will waltz into the slime's first 22.

What's your point Mr carntechnicolourvomitguernsey? Oh, you don't have one. Now go away.

Shipp was getting wraps from your supporters back in 1999 when he got his Rising Star nomination, wasn't he? Mind you, so many blokes get big wraps from the Freo supporters out our way, it tends to blur things a bit.
Regards, carntechnicolourvomitguernsey
PS: Embley or Shipp? Tough call.

I like Carneagles. It's not often that he has absolutely no point at all and isn't even funny with it. Normally he is a hoot. He must have had a bloodrush of sorts and got all giddy.
He grabbed the cliche and ran, forgetting to check whether it was true or even relevant. You can't blame him for that. That's SOP down at Fleagleland.
I hope the crumbpicking driptrays down there pick up Shippy. He's a quality bloke and a handy footballer - which makes him twice as useful as Embley, who is barely acceptable as a human being.

I remember early in Embleys career he was interchanged onto the field to glorious wraps from Dennis Commetti, he proceeded to recieve the ball in a pinpoint pass and then kick it the wrong direction.
Carnseagulls, are you going to now make the same claim that other moron with no team board of his own made, "Embley will tag Headland out of the next Derby."
Just beautiful.

I can understand Frog having problems following the logic (given the stream-of-consciousness contribution to blocker's thread) but come on, it's not that hard.
As for Embley, every team has to have a random SOB - Croad's yours, Embley's ours. At least I think that's the rationale for keeping Embley - can't think of any others at the minute, except maybe to ensure that Gary Adshead's kids get Playstations for Christmas.
And anyway, cliches make the football world go around. Running with cliches is like running with scissors - it's only funny until someone loses an eye. Then it's very funny.

But its still going to be a great clincher in arguments between Dockers and Coast fans.
"well you guys picked up someone we de-listed". You gotta love it. Shows alot for there current list.

Weren't the toasters adopting the policy recruitments from Carlton. When ripped sacks Turley came back from retirement I seem to remember whisperings of a toast comeback.
Isnt Shipp a little young for that.
Slapo, McIntoss, Mat-Hack-era etc are no longer spring chickens and perform as well as paint drying. So based on the toast policy maybe they could pick up Diesel Williams or better still Brad Hardie. At least you know they will be quicker than half the toast squad and its the only Brownlow reps they'll ever have

Nice one carneagles - that running with the scissors comment was a classic.
(Can't believe it, I'm laughing with a Weagle and not at them!)

See what I mean? He's nearly human this one. Of course he is still stupid enough to compare Andrew Embley and Trent "Garbo" Croad on the basis that they are both "random SOBs". The fact is that Garbo bagged a lazy 42 goals while on an on-the-job learning program as a forward and practises his "randomness" on the football field while Embley is a no-talent wannabe thug who practises his boring acts of thuggery while hammered in nightclubs.
Carneagles is welcome here anytime but the minute it looks like he believes any of his Weavil nonsense, he's out.
