After a rare loss last week the Sheriff is back up and going this Saturday night. He uncharacteristically stumbled out of the boxes last Saturday night and had to do the work from the back of the field. It was always going to be tough once that occurred because its not as if he was up against a bunch of West Coast Eagle Western Shootout representatives, even though one of the other runners, Cockroach, was obviously named after them. He was lined up against some very slick types. So when the Sheriff was still last by about 18 lengths on the home turn we didn?t expect too much in the run to the line. But this is the super Sheriff we?re talking about. He punched his way through the Chris Judd blocking tactics and got home for an impressive fourth, or so we thought. Officially he ran 5th according to the judges. There were just a few short of 6000 on course last Saturday night and we surveyed each and every one of them. I couldn?t believe a crowd that size could all need their eyes checked. Each and every last one of them said the Sheriff ran 4th! They need to make an appointment at OPSM because the judges said 5th and they never get it wrong. So after a very fine 4th placing?.I mean 5th placing last week the Sheriff has come up with the prized red alley and looks a big chance. He comes up in race 4 Saturday night at 8.07pm. Having drawn box one he has to be a chance even before looking at the runners. From three starts from the red box the Sheriff has one win and two seconds so the strike rate is pretty flash, albeit against lesser opposition. But when you see the West Coast Eagle named Cockroach in box two which is an average beginner, and Wassa Reltub in box three, who likes to get wide then the Sheriff?s chances improve further. So any dockerlanders, syndicate members or other wise, who wish to venture out to Cannington Saturday night to support the Sheriff are welcome to do so. The group of regulars will be out there so join up and kick home the Sheriff. The regulars will be easily spotted because they were never going to take the advice of Racing Radio?s Peter O?Neill last Saturday night which was to ?lose the purple dockerland shirts.? The dockerlanders have woken up. Every time you take Pete O'Neill's advice you end up losing something and usually its money on the track! Should the Sheriff run an ordinary race and miss the placings then we?ll be approaching Gary ?The Guru? Wilson to put the Sheriff in the sin bin in his column in ?The West Australian? on Monday. The Guru threw Omega Brook in last Monday?s sin bin only to have it come out last night and claim victory. Good on you Guru!
