Peter Bell Resumes the Helm | Print |

For those who weren't under the impression that he already had the job, Peter Bell has been re-named captain of the Fremantle Football Club for 2006.

Apparently there was some doubt over his position as skipper when he was refused permission to call the other players 'little buddy' and whop them over the head with his hat. All the problems were resolved however when his partner agreed for him to call her Tenille.

Matthew Pavlich has been given the job of vice captain, made all the more special by the number of players named one rank below him in the Leadership Group. Apparently if you could remember all the words to the song, they gave you a job. Matthew Carr, Josh Carr, Luke McPharlin, Paul Hasleby, Justin Longmuir, Shane Parker, Jeff Farmer and James Walker all made the cut.

The Dockers have also named a new shorts sponsor. Members Equity Bank will get their name on the Fremantle player's strides until 2008. The club were tight lipped about just how much the sponsorship deal was worth but we can reveal that part of the agreement was that Jeff Farmer has to Riverdance on the presentation podium in each of the years Fremantle wins the Premiership.
