The sixth and final week of the Greyhounds WA Dockerland Punting Competition round one came to a horrific end with Fremantle painfully falling by the barest of margins. Devastated, I wondered down to the North mole on Saturday morning and watched an old man doing some fishing. He reeled in a big fat herring and in an instant he had the knife out and had it gutted. I thought, “The poor fish, its feeling like us Freo supporters this morning.” However, I also thought, "Gee some of those herring would go a treat for breakfast."
Anyway enough of that rubbish, you didn’t click on the link for a fishing report. You clicked to see who the lucky and astute Greyhounds WA Dockerland Punter was that took off the first round of the Greyhounds WA Dockerland Punting competition.
It was a relatively easy week to find a winner but getting paid with some value was the tough part of the equation. With Fremantle falling by a point it cost many punters a dinner for two at Greyhounds WA because the $6 on Freo was snapped up for plenty. Dockerlanders who were aboard Fremantle were already downloading the Cannington form guide at half time because they had the dinner in the bag. The disappearance of 12 seconds off the clock has cost them the opportunity of experiencing the incredible fine cuisine and the hospitality of the Greyhounds WA restaurants.
Below are the successful betting options that were available for the weekend just gone. It was the final week of the first round so if you missed out on the big prize you’ll have to start from scratch next week in round two. Greyhounds WA Punting week six round one results were -

He’s done it. The Moo Man has held on in the final week of the first round and taken out the first big night out at Greyhounds WA for 2008. It was a magnificent effort as punters came from everywhere in that final week but two very astute, albeit conservative, bets of $800 on the Crows and $1100 on the Bulldogs has done enough to ensure Mr and Mrs. Moo Man will be enjoying the magnificent food, service and entertainment at Greyhounds WA Cannington.
Punter Dropkick gave Moo Man a scare as he disgracefully threw everything he had on the Cats to beat Freo by under 39.5 points. He ended up in 2nd place and just $600 short but it was a fair effort. But with that sort of selling out Freo betting Dropkick, it was never going to be enough. However, given the desperation to win such a magnificent prize I can understand you jumping on the over the odds price.
Chopper finished in 3rd but looking at his betting over the weekend it’s fair to say he panicked and over used his Dockerland Dollars. But you threw everything at it and that’s what makes Greyhounds WA Dockerland Punting Champions so Dockerland applauds your endeavour. Best of luck in future rounds Chopper.
So congratulations go to Moo Man on becoming the first Greyhounds WA Dockerland Punting Champion for 2008. Moo Man, you now enter the Dockerland Punting hall of fame and your name will be scratched into the wall of the Dockerland palladium. (Dockerland tin shed in the back yard) Many future generations will see your name and be in awe of your punting craft.

I'd like to thank my Mum, Greyhounds WA, my Priest and Greg (for accepting the bribe). As the only likely person to post in this thread ....let me just say Freo are the officially the greatest 1-5 team in AFL history. |
