I don’t know if we do or we don’t have a youth policy. The media thinks we do, or rather we should, so as they’re always judged by themselves to be right, possibly we do have one. Personally I would rather have the play the best man available for the roll policy but that’s not the point. Whether we do or don’t have one, this weekend we should drop the youth back to the WAFL and go in with the Veteran Policy.
Why risk the youth on this game when the calibre of a current Adrian Fletcher, Ashley Prescott and Dale Kickett would suffice! Matthew Carr, Shaun McManus and the likes will get the job done and get it done with ease this weekend.
If you are a betting person or not, this is the game where you just find an Eagle fan and go at them with a large even money bet. Sure, you may have some trouble finding a west coast fan at the moment as they’re as difficult to find as an untainted cup in their trophy cabinet. (Yes I know the response will be “at least we have something the trophy cabinet”) But if you can find one then put them to the sword and get even money out of them, take as much as you can because we are the best of good things.
Tip - The best place to look for a West Coast Eagle follower would be where ever they sell Perth Wildcats season memberships.
Peter Sumich’s comments were very strange and it only ads further weight to what we all know. That is they're under pressure in a massive way and are feeling nerves at the minute. His no respect tirade was extremely un-Eagle like and very un-Sumich. This screams desperation and they are cracking under the pressure of what they can see coming, this weekend and beyond.
We didn’t get to see it on Channel Eagle due to obvious favourable editing but Sumich’s No Respect rant got even weirder when he rolled out a half hour bit of Rodney Dangerfield’s “I get no respect...” lines.
The Dockers have played very ordinary in patches and well in others over the first two weeks and we’ve been just beaten by obviously two very good sides. If we play well in one or two more patches than we have done so far, I can see a belting being handed out by us. If we play well in one or two patches less then it will just be a comfortable victory.
The Eagles were very ordinary for three quarters against the Lions, or I should say against Jonathon Brown, and they were horrendous, bordering on comical against the Crows.
Evidently when Daniel Kerr gets the three Brownlow votes in Derbies, he gets the Eagles over the line. That is except when he doesn’t play or when he gets tagged out of the game. Thanks for that Lachy Reid!
When Kerr was best on ground in the previous Derbies he was playing alongside Cousins and Judd so that would obviously makes life a lot easier. In the last derby, Josh Carr made Cousins look like a homeless bum in torn clothing yet still had time to turtle Kerr several times. Kerr now doesn’t have a Judd or a Cousins or probably even a friend, of which could take some of the J.Carr heat.
Josh Carr, cameras on him or otherwise, is all we need.
