The problem Hypen, is that we lost two games in Adelaide, and didn't look anything like a top 4 team, and then we got pumped by one of the poorest performing clubs over the last few years.
So as fans, what can we expect going forward, that we go back to producing "good" performances where we toil all day and only lose by a goal? This isn't just a "once off", it's the repetition of a pattern that we've all seen the team produce for a lot of years, and as a fan I find it pretty frustrating, I suppose that's the nature of being a fan and your team isn't performing to the level you want them too.
I realise footy is a fickle sport and teams can turn it around and for all I know, in 5 months everyone will look back and laugh at how wrong some supporters were for questioning whether this club could win a premiership the way we're playing.
And for the sake of clarity, I'm not blaming the playing group, I don't think they could have thrown any more at the Blues and Port than what they had, it's bigger than that, it starts at the very top and permeates the culture of our club. Someone needs to stand up and make a statement, and change the way that the club thinks about football.
Earlier in the thread was a list of our worst losses, they all hurt, but many of those were galvanising, who could forget facing off the with the feral Essendon supporters in 2003, walked away thinking oh yeh, that was tough, but who knows what next year will bring! 2004 wasn't so good, but we ended up playing finals in 6 of the next 12 seasons. 20 years later, another loss and I'm not seeing some grand future appearing in coming weeks, months, years without some fundamental switch in thinking.
Anyway, what would I know, I hope I'm wrong and the winds of fortune blow a flag Freos way sooner rather than later. Whenever it happens, games like this will be nothing more than a footnote for all the long suffering fans who'll breathe a sigh of relief that they were still around to see it.
