Here's the deal, Barry

Had enough of sitting back while the Melbourne mediamafia and the local cabal of ooftit old boys write Freo off, so went to see my apostolic mate Barry with a little shopping list.
He baulked at the very first hurdle, but I told him if he wanted me to abandon the party of my birth and vote against the Godless She-Devil, the Saints had to go down. For starters. I'm pleased to say Arch (as we call him down the baths) has clearly had a chat to his Big Mate and the fix is on!
So let me anoint your head with the good oil: winners this weekend are Essendon (in the bag), Carlton, Port, Sydney, Brisbane, Richmond, Norths and Freo.
Bella premunt hostilia;
Da robur, fer auxilium
Amen

I tipped all of those teams except Sydney & Richmond.
I've said it before ; This is all forces of the Universe coming into play.
Freo may even finish third.

I've been saying the Saints are vulnerable and could fall out of the top 4. And if they don't improve on last's nights performance, even despite there relatively easy run home - that won't stop them from falling out of top 4. They need to improve. I still maintain saints haven't secured top 4.
Bulldogs - Their ridiculous 'united' antics after beating a seriously undermanned team at home - will surely come back to bite them. They are due to lose a couple of upsets. Yeah I can understand why they wanted Aker out, but geez how ridiculous was that propaganda hate of one man as a catylist to galvanize the team, nay club.
Geelong look disinterested. They will finish top 2 - but look bored and could care less if they succeed or not.
Freo $46 right now to win flag. They are pretty good odds to get on. Backline back to full strenth, Crowley having a well earned month off in preparation for finals. Duffield can now play as midfielder, to strenthen that. Mayne around the corner. Everything is in place nicely.

$46 is ridiculous for the flag.
1 upset and your in a prelim and as Saints showed last night all teams go through "form" patches. They have no excuses however where as we can say injuries.
Finals still a long way off and i think we're building beautifully.
Hard to see Hawks, Dogs and Pies continue with this form for 5 more weeks and then finals.
Id admit we will require our share of luck come finals to make GF... obviously.
My betting market
Geelong $3
Pies $5
Saints $5
Dogs $12
Freo $15
Hawks $15

Not bad, Barry. I'm not about to support turning the boats around and ripping up the fibre optic cable on the basis of the Essendon and Port wins, but get Norths and Sydney home (and, of course, no boyfiddly stuff tomorrow at Subi) and even Barnaby Joyce might start to look sane enough to vote for.

Zorro,
even run benny run at his 'highest', never considered barnaby joyce worth voting for!
Still if Norths beat the bullies tomorrow and we utterly steamroll the slime, well any party that can deliver that with regularity is worth voting for!
edit: The weekend is getting more betterer! Go the mighty Sharks!

Surely it's in our interest for Geebung to win over Sinny today - keeps those red and whites off our tails.
Back before the season started, I got $61 on a Freo premiership. Now, 18 rounds later and with Freo at fifth place, you can still get $46. I'd say grab some of that. I think Freohhhhhhhhhhhh! has the market about right, but I'd push Hawforn out to about $18 after today's effort.

Have faith, Doubting Masticator, we're moving in mysterious ways here.
(by the way, I've just heard from Barry about the Collingwood win. Said something about John Wren, eternal damnation, anyone but Carlton and the ghost of Mannix. Seems that one was just too hard to swing.)

No offence Masticator, but if you bet on us winning the premiership before the season started, you must have racked up a lot of losses in your time.

You're probably right, captdazza, but it's been fun. And a few astute wagers on our team when it was the underdog have given me some wins and kept me interested. Likely wins on bets made before the season started on Freo making the top eight and the top four will make it worth while.
