What proportion of Bruce's sentences does he end with a question? Have a listen this week and I'd reckon it is around about 30-40%. It is extraordinarily irritating.
Maybe he just needs validation?

You're referring to 'questions' that aren't strictly questions, I take it. So it's a matter of tone, yeah?
I believe it's called the 'moronic interrogative'. It's big, hugely big, among broadcast sports journos ... and teenage girls who hang around shopping centres.
I know there ought to be a difference, and let's hope the march of history leads us to it in the near future.
Hey, we've got an election coming up and, now that I think of it, why not vote for the candidate who doesn't do the moronic interrogative?
(It's not like there's a better reason.)

I've heard Bruce follow up a question by saying:
i) that's a funny question, i know
ii) in a lot of ways that's been answered tonight
iii) don't look at me like that
iv) all of the above

You forgot,
"They need the next goal...."
"The next goal is very important..."
"The next goal just about wins it from here...."
To turn each of the above into the obligatory question, just add, "isn't that right Dennis?" to the end.
Or my favourite when Jess Sinclair playing for the Kangaroos kicked a goal against the Crows at Football Park:
"You'd say they're in front right now, even though they're behind"

a few years back, every now and then the uncertainty dissolved and he would speak with self assured authority: "That was special!!"
No questioning or asking for assistance once hes blurted out the "special"
