Fremantle have slipped down into the General Admission section of the ladder with an effort against the North Melbourne Kangaroos that lacked many of the key components of football, such as marking, kicking and holding on to the gentleman from the other team who has the ball. Freo never really got going, once again falling victim to the Kangaroos uncanny ability to fill the space at Subiaco Oval and kill off the Dockers run. It was a great start by the Dockers, with early goals seeming to come easy as a packed house settled in for a confidence boosting win but some courageous umpiring decisions kept the Roos in the game at quarter time and they clung to Fremantle for the rest of the game before finally squeezing past in the last quarter while Freo flapped about, desperately trying to scavenge a goal. The good news for Freo is that next week is the Derby so an easy four points will help them regain their footing before launching themselves back up the ladder in the weeks ahead.
Have your say on how the Dockers players performed on the weekend by rating each player from zero to five or just pop in and have a look what everyone else had to say about the team.
To save people forking over their hard earned money to the AFL in exchange for a magazine that gets bigger every week, making it harder to get to the only part you actually want - the names of the players, we've introduced the Dockerland Budget.
Ryan Crowley will have his work cut out for him this week, having to carry most of the pinching load, after Fremantle Hard Man Hayden Ballantyne was ruled out for a week for, well, who could actually say what it was for. The point is he’s out and Brent Harvey isn’t going to pinch himself (at least not until after the game when he’s dobbing to the tribunal). Harvey is expected to get a hostile reception from the home crowd, who will be fired up for the historic anniversary edition of Bogan Easter (it’s two weeks since AC/DC broke up), after his infamous claim that he had been pinched 300 times by Crowley. Fans are being encouraged to bring their own clickers to keep count and the club installing a giant inflatable abacus above the scoreboard to keep track of the pinches. WIth Ballantyne out the club have enforced the One Hayden out, One Hayden In rule so Hayden Crozier will come into the team. Matt Taberner has been dropped because it was Tommy Sheridan’s turn in the rotation.
