Fremantle have concluded the Away section of the Home & Away season with a routine demolition job on the hapless Brisbane Lions. Even without Nat “Fisticuffs” Fyfe and Mick “Brittle Bones” Barlow, Fremantle’s midfield barely broke into a sweat as they carved up the Gabba to allow the locals to watch Hayden Ballantyne and Michael Walters play a game of Duelling Small Forwards, attempting to out do each other every time the footy headed into the Dockers’ forward line. Matthew Pavlich got out of the way, withdrawing at the last minute due to a “quad” injury (obviously the run of late calf injuries was starting to look suspicious). Fremantle had the game sewn up by the 20 minute mark but fulfilled their contractual obligations to finish off all four quarters, winning by 58 points in what was an inconsequential game in the scheme of the season. Fremantle now have a simple equation in front of them - win next week and they finish in the top 4. Lose and they don’t.
