Fremantle have successfully met the obligations of their license to field a team of 22 players for 22 rounds of the season, sending a team to Melbourne to “contest” the 4 points with St Kilda but sadly pulling up several goals short. With 11 of their regulars home in Fremantle, the B-Mantle side struggled to organise a score over at Etihad. They didn’t bother the scorers in the first quarter and took their time getting some numbers on the board in the second quarter, with Jack Taberner finally kicking a Fremantle goal after the saints had put on 8. There wasn’t much on show for the Dockers youngsters, with Ross Lyon seemingly letting them go about their own business as he enjoyed the celebrations for the retiring St Kilda players with the main point of interest the injury to Clancee Pearce, who probably should have been the 12th bloke rested. Aaron Sandilands will presumably also be looked at, regarding a neck injury, after running around with a massive helmet on all day.
