Fremantle have handed down a record breaking shellacking to the team from the crap part of Sydney, embarrassing Kevin Sheedy in his last effort in the Subiaco Oval coach’s box and chipping away at the percentage difference between them and the team from the nice part of Sydney.
When the siren sounded to start the match, Frep were all business. They had the first goal on the board inside 30 seconds and another not long after that. Not concerned with their opponent’s position on the ladder, the Dockers threw everything they had at the Giants and the first quarter was an exhibition in unrelenting pressure. The Giants barely had a kick, let along a kick near the goals and Freo put through 6 unanswered majors in the first term.
When it started getting ugly in the second quarter, and Ross Lyon started getting giddy by the 8 goal margin, Freo relented slightly to give the young Giants a look in. The Giants had abit of fun and pegged back the margin slightly but, to their credit, they realised Fremantle were being generous to them and decided to step aside in the second half to let the Dockers claim their biggest ever winning margin.
All but a few defenders and David Mundy ended up kicking a goal for Fremantle, with the final margin resting at 113 points and the Dockers firming for favouritism for the flag...at least around Fremantle way.
