As the player post match interview talking points will have read, the Gold Coast are a young side with some great players and they'll be a top side in the future...but they're not yet and Fremantle, at half strength and weary from the several hours of travel (and a bit sick from riding The Cyclone all day Friday) just toyed with them for 3 hours, barely raising a sweat (except for Cam Sutcliffe who appears to have a medical condition) to win by 45 points. it was a demolition job or a humiliation just a sensible four quarter effort of sensible, disciplined footy, blocking every contest up and stopping the Suns from using their speed and skill to delight their home fans. Ffly in, get the four points, fly home style footy.
There were a few things worth watching from the white and purplish blokes though. Ryan Crowley wore Gary Ablett like a tight scoop necked t-shirt, keeping the Suns' captain to a handful of cheap possessions and forcing him to leave the ground for an application of No More Tears shampoo. Alex Silvagni made a triumphant return to the team, looking lively up forward early but making his presence felt in the midfield as he Hulk smashed his way through the Suns youngsters. But it was Michael Walters who stole the show with a scintillating display of poise, skill, high marking, fancy goal kicking and tatts, kicking 4 goals and lighting up the forward half of the ground.
