FREMANTLE forward Michael Walters will complete his remarkable football resurrection when he signs a new contract to extend his career with the Dockers.
The chances of Walters being offered a new deal appeared remote when he was banished from the club and sent to train with his WAFL side Swan Districts last summer for being overweight.
But excellent performances in Fremantle's two finals, including three goals in Friday night's semi-final loss to Adelaide, have capped his renaissance in the second half of the season and stamped him as a required player.
Walters' strong form even increased the 21-year-old's bargaining power with regard to terms. His deal is most likely to be a two-year extension.
