Fremantle forward Chris Mayne says he is no longer letting himself get frazzled while taking set shots and is reaping the rewards of a simplified goal-kicking technique.
The 23-year-old yesterday booted three goals for the second week running and has now amassed an impressive 13 majors straight in seven matches this year.
It is a far cry from last season when Mayne was asked to often punch above his weight as a make- shift key forward.
He booted 25.23 in 2011 as the club's equal leading goal kicker, but appeared more at ease on the run compared with taking a set shot inside the 50m arc.
Mayne said he had worked on making his routine simpler with the help of club psychology and development manager Kim Mercer.
