 | The poor Eagles have been having some trouble with their jumper design over the past few years. Trying to capture the modern feel of the club, they came up with the design which seemed to represent someone drowning in their own vomit. Now they've apparently reverted to the old design but changed it just enough so that it looks nothing like the original. | Because we Dockers supporters always like to help out the Eagles in times of need, Dockerland.com came up with some designs last year to help them out. We felt the designs were representative of the club and their supporters but despite huge support at grass roots level our designs were ignored by the power brokers at the Eagles. They've had another crack at the jumper design and once again have fallen short of the mark. Always a benevolent bunch we sent the brief off to the designers again. Since they were after a new away jumper, we wanted something which would take the feel of being a part of the West Coast Eagles in WA over to their supporters in the east. Hopefully the club will wake up to themselves and give one of these a run for 2004. The first designs capture the spirit of their favourite son Glen Jakovich. His unique Jakitsu fighting style represented in textiles would fill the players with the respect they deserve when they come face to face with an aggressive opponent . The second design is not only quite fetching but it will provide the players with a reference if they are ever faced with the problem of working out how many of them can be on the ground at one time. I think you'll agree this next series has everything you'd want in a football jumper. The first jumper symbolises unity and putting your team mates first while also being a timely reminder to be careful when descending down a nightclub stairwell. The second obviously features a big e for Eagles. Simple yet powerful. Next up is the Troy Wilson inspired front end loader. When a player dons this jumper he'll feel like he can do anything regardless of what any one or any rule may say. The second in the series should put fear into the hearts of the opposition as they realise that at any time they could have their spine pushed through their chest. Finally we have the jumper which embodies all that is good about the Eagles, knitting and handbags. Nothing captures the atmosphere at an Eagles game more than the collective sound of 20,000 knitting needles clicking as the opposition side kicks an equalising goal. Likewise, nothing captures the players cosmetics better than their handbags. Proposed Designs for 2002 | Home | Away | | | | Home | Away | | | | Home | Away | | | |
