Who Wants to Be a Docker

The Fremantle Dockers have given six youngsters from around the country a chance to be part of their first premiership side, as they once again managed to cherry pick the best talent about in the 2009 National Draft. It was Anthony Morabito first off as three West Aussies, a Victorian, a South Australian and a Tasmania will pull on the red, green, white and purple next year, while Greg Broughton has brought up off the rookie list to become a proper footballer for 2010.

As expected, at Pick number 4, Fremantle went for Anthony Morabito. Officially designated as 'like Adam Goodes' by the AFL player comparison computer, he's a freaky tall, quick, big marking, long kicking, ruck roving goal kicker who will give Fremantle some headaches as they try and decide where they should play him.

At pick 20 Fremantle went back to their roots and drafted a Claremont youngster, Nathan Fyfe. Another giant goal kicking midfielder, Fyfe will be sent straight to the gym where he won't be allowed out until he can bench press Byron Schammer after Christmas lunch.

Staying local with their third pick, the Dockers got on the Joel Houghton train at pick 36. Tall, quick and deadly accurate in front of goals, he's an old school leading glamour forward

With the best of the WA players scooped up, Fremantle cast their net east where they attempted to heal the rift that has long existed between Fremantle and the people of Tasmania, selecting North Launcestian Jesse Crichton. His hair currently weighs more than the rest of him so he's expected to be spending time with Fyfe in the gym, until they can get him into an adult sized guernsey.

The Dockers thought they should probably do something about the gaping holes in their defence with pick number 49 so they went to Victoria to see if Dylan Robertson would like to take on what's expected to become a very easy job of hanging about in Fremantle's premiership backline.

WIth their last pick, Fremantle played it safe with Justin Bollenhagan, an ever reliable utility, with a raking left foot and pace to burn.

Fremantle passed on their next pick before promoting Greg Broughton to the senior list with their last pick.
