Intensive behind the scenes lobbying has seen Fremantle spare their new and exciting young talent the typical one way trip that comes with being allocated to South Fremantle. The road to becoming a WAFL specialist is a well understood and often embraced career trait down at the Bulldogs and in recent years, Fremantle officials have been concerned that they often spend a lot of time and money recruiting South Fremantle footballers. This year, however, no young Dockers will be forced into the red and white and have their AFL career over before it even starts.
Despite precedent suggesting otherwise, former Shark Adam McPhee went back into the ballot for reallocation and will play for Claremont should things not work out with the Dockers, with SCOS Silvagni joining him at the Tigers as motivation to get into the Dockers side as soon as possible.
Dylan Roberton was deemed to have the most bogan name and was sent packing to East Perth to play alongside..well, they're sure to have someone down there.
Michael Barlow and Jesse Crichton will head down the freeway to Peel, or the Ballantyne Football Club as it should shortly be known. Mark Harvey expects that running the gauntlet of Rockingham a couple of times a week will heighten their awareness and reflexes while the trip through Kwinana is likely to improve their lung capacity - although he's yet to work out a practical application for holding your breathe for that long on a football field.
Justin Bollenhagen has been singled out for special treatment, heading to Perth where Troy Cook is expected to school him in the ways of killing a man without getting much more than two weeks. Daniel Bandy has kindly agreed to come down and help out as well. He'll be playing the role of the aforementioned man.
