Bombers Flogged. Eagles Dance With Sister.
Fremantle opened their NAB Cup campaign by devastating Essendon with a clinical demolition job that is sure to see the Bombers reconsidering their decision not to drop out of the AFL and focus on the VFA. They then packed up their gear and were all set to hit Leighton for a cool down when someone told them they still had another game to play. Pav had already gone home and Fyfe had only brought one pair of socks so Ross Lyon gathered together the players who were hanging around, sent them out on the ground. Luckily the Eagles are so crap so the damage wasn’t too bad.
Footy Interest Rates Up
Footy season, of sorts, kicks off this Sunday evening with the 2012 Bank Sponsored Lightning Carnival pitting two of the most exciting young teams in the competition and the Eagles against each other in three 40 minute rule experiments designed to provide footballers with a bit of touch and the AFL with a bit of spare cash to throw in the Western Sydney pit. Despite being fitter than ever, Fremantle have decided to go in without a defence and a skeleton midfield (they really have lost a lot of weight) which should be sure to test the fitness of some of the youngsters.
Start Polishing the Flag Pole
Sitting on a beanbag watching 8 hours straight of cricket for 5 days in a row, repeatedly, can do funny things to your brain. You forget things. Important things like the taste of food that's been cooked indoors or how to tie a shoe lace. One of the most important things forgotten by many however was that Nat Fyfe is freaking awesome. After two minutes of seeing Fyfe run amok against his team mates, Ross Lyon called the Subiaco caterers in to make him up one of their famous salad rolls and settled in for the easiest 6 months of his career.
